113 Bat

Bat: My third “113″ tattoo. I drew it in April 2005 at my girlfriend’s apartment. The influences here are Bam Margera and Ville Valo (HIM) with their matching heartagram tattoos below their navels. I thought it was an awesome place for a tattoo, and I’ve always loved bats. No, Batman was not the inspiration for it, but he is my favorite superhero, and I suppose on some unconscious level he might have been the inspiration. At any rate, I got it back at Ft. Hood in May 2005. It hurt like hell, and was probably the most painful one.

Heard it on the X

X: The four symbols evolved from a Soulfly song on their 3rd album, where Max (Cavalera, singer) screams, “heart/fist/soul/mind!” I loved the words and connotations, and decided to draw symbols for each rather than getting words tattooed on me. I drew this during my first month at Ft. Hood in January 2004, and got it tattooed one month before going to Iraq AGAIN in March. The red “x” is one of the most recognizable tats I have, and is even the prototype for the logo on my wrestling pants. The meaning behind the “x” itself is personal. I’ve only told one person what it means and don’t intend to tell anyone else.
