Top 5 Pro Wrestling Matches
When it comes in in ring action, SB-1 has been a fan of it for all of his life. From following the days of Demolition to one of his heroes Bret Hart – he has seen a lot of wrestling. I figured, there would be none better to go to and ask – what are the best matches that the squared circle has seen?
Here are SB-1’s choices for the top five wrestling matches in professional wrestling history. One of these days somebody is going to have the punk himself on one of these list – you can bet on that.
1) Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels
WWF Championship Iron Man Match, Wrestlemania 12
This match has everything you could ask for: mat wrestling, scientific skill, innovation, high-flying, and expert psychology. Best match in the history of professional wrestling. Period.
2) Bret Hart vs Rowdy Roddy Piper
WWF Intercontinental Championship, Wrestlemania 8
Excellent match, excellent story. Beautiful psychology. These two brought out the best of each other, and this match is the main reason WM8 is my favorite ‘Mania.
3) Bret Hart vs Mr. Perfect
WWF Intercontinental Championship Match, SummerSlam 1991
See a pattern developing here? Hey, I’ve got the guy’s logo tattooed on my back. Just like with Piper, this match brought out the best in each competitor. A wrestling clinic.
4) Bret Hart vs British Bulldog
WWF Intercontinental Championship Match, SummerSlam 1992
Definitely the Bulldog’s best performance ever, and Bret’s psychology was awesome. I hope to one day have a match this technically sound that also tells such an amazing story.
5) Randy Savage vs Ricky Steamboat
WWF Intercontinental Championship, Wrestlemania 3
These guys stole the show at arguably the biggest ‘Mania of all time, and their match was way before its time.
